My topic is about when I had to discuss my school year work schedule and convince my boss that I needed to leave at certain times and only work on certain days.
I work at Community Development Professionals. I have worked there for two years and over the summer was a full time employee. I have many rolls there including general office upkeep, IT, and accounting. Being involved in all of these things makes me an essential member of the CDP organization. With school beginning I knew I had to maximize my time up at school and minimize the time that I worked, otherwise I would become overly stressed and maybe even fall behind in my studies. I had to communicate with my supervisor both orally and written about my class schedule and the time I would need to dedicate to school, as well as show her that I was still able to do my job. Was I successful? Guess that you'll just have to wait to see the final product.

August 27, 2010 - Rhetoric Examples
1. I once used rhetoric when I was convincing my boss to let me leave work early so that I could be to school on time. I appealed to her emotions as she has three kids, one of which is in college as well. I used the facts of the bus schedule to tell her that I would have to leave at such and such time so that I could make the bus in order to arrive in oxford on time.
2. I have also used rhetoric when I needed money. When emailing my grandmother back and forth I would at times casually mention how I did not have the money for something that I wanted. I would focus on her emotions as well mine. I presented it in a casual manner so that it was not as if I was directly asking for cash.
3. When emailing the office about paper shredding I had to use Pethos to tell them that they needed to monitor what they were throwing into the "to be shredded" bins. I told them how we only had one paper shredder and that for an office of 17 people it was important that only confidential files were to be shredded. The "to be shredded" bins were not to be used as trash cans.
